Considering he hasn't posted or linked to any proof of his statement, I would suspect he is baiting the arguement. (and contrary to what you may find on line as test or visual observation data as well)

Cut an OEM filter and an aftermarket one in half and tell me which has more paper.

Aftermarket loses that one.

My technician friend, raced an F2, and would agree with KJohnson on the OEM filters.

Honda filter for a 900rr. The cutting was supposedly performed late 99, so the newest Purolator PureOne is not shown. Honda may also have made improvements in their design as well.

Purolator filter

The ML16817 is still the suggested filter for use in most Honda bikes including the F2, F3, F4, F4i and 600rr, 900, 929, and 954. The 1000 was ot listed in their interchange, but if it takes the same honda filter as the others...

<edit> Amazon sells those Purolator filters $12.58 for a 2 pack with free shipping on orders over $25. I've never bought less than $25 worth of stuff on Amazon.

well i got the k-n filter.ive heard u actually lose power to them unless u got jets and a pipe but i dunno.as far as manuals i actually like the clymer.haynes is easier to find what u wanna do but clymer has lots and lots of pictures step by step even for the most minute things.

I agree! If you look at the total filtering surface, the top one has much more.
