Default jetting question

Keep in mind that I am brand new to bikes, picked up a 93 f2 in the fall with 30k on it.
It has a D&D pipe on it and I picked up a new airbox off ebay for it that came with a K&N air filter. My question does this bike need to be rejetted to optimize running?
I am not looking for performance I am just looking for reliability, and ease of starting. I have only ridden the bike up and down the road a few times but it was tough to get started (also was cold 30 35)
right now the bike is getting fresh paint, I am spraying out the primer tonight.

any help would be appreciated guys.

Many on this board will tell you that the stock paper air filter is actually better than the K&N. To optimize running, of course a jet kit would come in handy. A Dynojet Stage 1 is all you will need. If you just have a slip on, try cleaning the carbs yourself first. Especially the Pilot Jet. Are you starting the bike with the choke on? Carb'd bikes usually have trouble starting in cold weather anyway.

^^^ What he said. I'd probably do a carb cleaning first.

That was my plan I just thought I would collect some thoughts from some that have experience.

^^^^good advice^^^^^ a k n wont hurt anything youll barely notice any difference but if you want optimum power jet or switch back to papper the latter maybe the best thing if your inexperienced but if your gonna clean em out u minswell jet while your in there.

I just did a carb clean and jet job on my bike. It is really easy if you have the tools. You might want to get a sync job also.
