Default Jet Kit Question

What do they mean when they say "This jet kit was designed for open carbs or modified air box." What is the modified air box, what do they do to it? I've searched and never could find out what exactly they do to it. I understand open carbs would be no air box with individual filters.

Heres a pic I found that gives you the idea, basically they cut the box and run an open filter.

I wonder if it runs alot better compared to the regular jet kit with unmodified air box. I'm thinking about racing my F2 in wera vintage V7 next year. From what I read its pretty much unrestricted class. I was watching the utube videos of the V7 class. I used to turn better lap times then those guys but that was 12 years ago. But you know the old saying "The older I get, the faster I was." Thanks for the picture.

WARNING: THREAD JACKING IN PROGRESS!

So are there dyno results to back the value of cutting the top of the airbox off like that? Just thinking out loud. I"m not gonna do that to mine as I'm sure my bike will be fast enough without any mods..

I agree JankCibberf2, at least 20hp over the old f2 plus better suspension and less weight. But for people who dont want to buy a newer bike, want to get as much power as they can, within reason. I wouldnt spend a small fortune to squeeze 110hp out of my old f2 but Im willing to spend a liitle bit to squeeze maybe 95hp out of it. I'm just saying.

It has -1 front stock on back. I can redline 6th down summit point main straight. Could go +2 rear probably for the shenandoah track. Going 520 conversion next year -1 +2 and a 15 tooth 520 front to swap between tracks.

They should be more towards $5-6 a jet at your local stealership.

I ran the Dynojet stage 1 jet kit on my CBR 600 F2 with good results. All the vets from racing these bikes though say to just slip a spacer under the needle (raising it a half notch) and you'll richen the mixture right out and be problem free.
