i have a big problem, my bike sputters at low rpm, and has fuel smell
hi everyone. im new here and it sux my first post is about a problem with my bike
i have a 94 cbr 600 that i purchased from my cousin about a month ago. ive put about 300 trouble free miles on it since then. when i was riding the other day i started to notice that my exhaust tone had gotten a bit deeper, and started to sound more like a chopper. not too much like a chopper, but it has more of a rumble to it now at low rpm, up to 8k. after 8k it sounds normal, but still doesnt seem as powerful as it did before the change in exhaust tone. i also notice the smell of fuel coming from the exhaust. now when i start off from standing still it boggs untill it gets up higher in the rpms. also when i started it today (first time in 3 days) it backfired through the exhaust when it first started.im a auto mechanic and this feels like a misfire, but i dont know much aboutbikes. according to my cousin the plugs and wires were changed about 2k miles ago. does anyone have any ideas, or had this problem before? im just trying to get some ideas before i get raped by a repair shop. thanks in advance.

Sure sounds like your carbs are out of adjustment. There's a chance that you might have a vacuum leak, and as a result your air/fuel mixture is far too rich for your motorcycle to run properly.
Check your vacuum lines and make sure everything is properly attached. Also, make sure your choke assembly is working properly.
