+1 to no oil consumption being normal, and to it being cheaper to just blow the damn engine up and then find a new one :P

Also, the F3 engines just bolt right in I'm told

if anything try using 20-50, little bit thicker oil, might slow it down, or try one of the oil additives at your local parts stores, i never had too good of luck with them in cars but its worth a shot

additive seemed to have swelled the valve seal, I don't think it's a huge problem yet. Anyone foresee a problem with a 400 mile trip? 'cept bing xtra oil

Have 41,000 miles on my 92 and I don't have to check the oil at all. I've taken 2 hour rides on the highway in 90* + temps turning 8,000 rpm's and no oil use.

valve seal leak. no burning now and changed to non synthetic. it was getting past the rings. AT205 fixed the seal. good stuff. next weekend I'll go 200+ miles, we'll see. runs very well.

funny thing checking the oil, sometimes it reads under, sometimes over. depends on the temp and correct lean on the bike I guess, PITA for sure

best way to check oil level?

I believe fully warmed, with the bike straight up, without screwing the dipsitck at all is the correct reading.

My buddy went riding with me last night. We came to a stop and he said I am burning alot of oil, piston rings are bad. I also have the sticky exhaust pipe issue. Probabley don't have the compresson I need. So this winter is a good time to put new seals, rings and bearings in, Maybe a kevlar clutch too. Bikebandit.com is going to my christmas buddy.

Yes, sit on the bike and have it straight up. Unscrew dipstick and wipe clean, re-insert and check level. Warm or cold doesn't matter to me. Hot oil doesn't expand like water/coolant.

trip went well, no problems, no oil burning. temp was low the whole time except for brief traffic. so for my cbr, no synthetic, and AT205 at oil change for now. changing oil every 1000k
