I'm guessing the speedo cable either came loose from the gear box at the front wheel or from behind the speedo (screw on connection) or the inner cable broke. The speedo is mechanically operated while the tach is electronic. That's why one works while the other doesn't.

how do you recalibrate the speedo? mines off by a good 15mph and the tire size in freont is stock.

so in all likelihood its either the drive gear or the cable, correct? I'm really hoping that the speedo itself isn't damaged.
