Gasoline smell

Gasoline smell
Guys, I really need your help. Whenever I start my 600 F2 (-92) it really smells of gasoline. I was thinking that I might be too heavy on the choke to get it started, but after having tried a couple of times I am pretty sure that I'm using it the correct way. Could it be that I always leave the petcock setting on "On" and not "Off"? According to the Swedish manual I am supposed to turn it off when storing it for a longer period of time, and by my standards a couple of days do not qualify as that. But I might be wrong on that one. Any ideas? Other than that, it runs pretty smoothly I think and I haven't discovered any leakage around the motorcycle either...

If it has an off and isn't vacume operated, then yes, you should turn it to off if it is
stored indoors or a confined area. You can try it, to see if it takes care of the
problem. If it doesn't, if the storage is extremely warm, you may be getting some
vapor emission from the tank vent. That's fairly unusual though (in my experience).
