today i went to replace the front drive sproket and chain, and in doing so i noticed that when i put the bike in gear, i could turn the sproket about 1 tooth back and fourth without the chain. when i ride i can feel that little bit of slop in between shifts. is this normal or is something wearing really wrong inside the engine? any help would be great.

 

completely normal. when sitting on the bike and its in gear rock it front to back. notice it moves a little bit? where do you thing that movement is coming from?
