As long as you keep up with the maintness, install a ape cam chain tensioner, It should last forever.

Honda has the most reliable motors ever made. And their transmissions are almost bulletproof.

The motor I had in my race bike ad 28,000 miles on it, And once tuned right, was a screamer. Once time, coming out of a corner wfo, at about 90mph, I for some reason forgot the bike was gp shift, and downshifted, (the bike was already at readline) and well, it was a very scary situation. But Motor was just fine, I did another 5 track days on it before I put in my superbike motor.

That motor is sitting in my garage torn apart, and other than a clutch. Its just fine. Ill prob put 1mm over pistons, smooth out the ports, and put new bearings on it. But shes fine.

With regular fluid changes and an ape CCT itll go till forever. My bike has 32K on it and is still damn strong. No major rebuild parts on it from what i can tell.

CCT replacement difficulty: 12 pack (can be done while drunk)

You'll know it's time when you come back here asking about a weird chattering or rattle coming from the upper right area of the engine

CCT Replacement (strange noise)

My 91 has 30,000 on it. Only problems I've had are the igniter box and cct.

Also where do I look for this CCT? can I see it in the open or do I have to remove the right fairing on my 94? Thanks.

Its best to remove the right fairing. Makes it alot easier.

The stock one on your bike looks kinda like this withoout that bolt ontop.

When you get a new one itll look like this. They are about 50 bucks.

If you have the extra cash may as well go ahead and replace it now before it starts acting up. Hope that helps. Install instructions come on the back of the box BTW. And like Kuroshio said. You can do it while drunk although its not recommended. lol

couldn't have said it better halffast. If you know about the CCT issue and the R/R issue and take care of them, I swear the life of these motors is indefinite.

I had a freak situation where something horrible happened inside my engine involving a 50/50 mix of oil and coolant being used in the engine as oil, and I rebuilt it from near-destruction to perfect for a few hundred bucks, and she purrs like a kitten. 21,000 and ticking.
