well because i raced a few newer 600's and i won 3 out of my 4 races friday night.drag races that is.ive been having this bike for about 3 months now dont know what all has been done to it before i got it.so i was just wondering how do you guys do against newer bikes or maybe the guys i was racing just didnt know how to ride.
On the original question: yeah, your F2 is quick, but it will be murdered by any 00+ model 600cc bike with a rider who's willing to use it in a straight line. It's even worse with larger displacement bikes.

The lesson is that many riders are pretty **** poor and can't even twist the wrist at an intersection. On my hopped up F2 (which still slow compared to a modern R6 or something), I've been intersection raced by plenty of people on faster newer bikes: new CBR1000's, R1's, GSXR1K's, RSV4's and so on. And still I kick their *** because they're too afraid of the 150+ HP they've got under their legs. Just because you drop 10K on a bike doesn't even mean you will be able to take it fast in a straight line.

The kid wants to compare the F2 to modern 600cc bikes. What's with all the confusion and retarded answers?
Our bikes supposedly produce 90rwhp, which over time I bet drops a good 5 down to 85. I'd like to run mine on a dyno to confirm where I'm at for power right now, but I bet I am pushing 95~ rwhp.
The new (2009+) CBR600rr's push 107hp, choked down from their previous generation (118hp, 2003-2008) due to heightened emissions standards.
They also weigh less. 2007+ comes in at 381lbs dry, while our bike comes in at 407lbs. So yeah, we're 25lbs heavier, with 22% less power than the 07-08 CBR600RR bikes. Our stock suspension is worse (especially given time and lack of fork oil changes), our geometry is inferior, our frames flex more, our tire sizes are smaller... it's old technology really which does add that little bit of a difference for the modern 600rr's!
The f2 though, regeared, resprung (suspension) and rejetted, in my experience, will run alongside a bone stock CBR600RR no problem in most street riding situations where top speeds max out at 110mph, and rider skill and willingness don't inhibit the machine. I've yet to have anyone except for seasoned track riders destroy me on the street on modern 600's!

the f2 was the first production 600cc to claim 100 hp at the crank I believe, which is around 84 horse at the wheel, BRAND NEW, not 20 years later. There is no way someone on a modern bike is losing to somebody on an f2 in a straight line unless they are little hoes. A modern bike at half throttle would hand you your ***.
Our bikes are dynosaurs, heavy, slow, obsolete. Ride something new with fuel injection, complete night and day difference in every department.
