yup that's a good way to do it. Take your time on the plastics - you'll be amazed at how much nicer it looks when you put them back on. Try some goof-off on the stubborn paint spot.

yeah,do it cheap for now so those don't look like chips in the paint. put some closely matching paint on them so at least it is painted. if it's close no one will be able to tell when it's on the road. you can always go back later for a more thorough job.

p.s. I hope the bike is stored somewhere secured too. more parts areexposed when plastics are off...

Thanks NotNY, I am taking my time with the bike. Where do you buy goof off?

As for the bike itself without the plastics on, she'sin a garage with a cover away from wind and rain

Excellent! I have bought it at Home Depot but I'd think any hardware store would have it.

Here are some pix of my touch-up jobs (note that the flash of the camera really over-emphasizes the differences in color - from the naked eye they all look pretty close, but your colors are probably a lot closer to the original than mine). At least they don't look like rash anymore. I mean, you know that's what they are, but they have received attention at the very least...and in my opinion it is so much better than whatever color of the plastic underneath is showing through your paint or stickers (black in most cases).

Looks good NY

I appreciate the pic, I can spot that product a mile away if I see it at the hardware store.

Will check it out next chance I get

Nice looking bike you got there too

I don't think I've seen that color f2 in Hawaii, ever.

Thanks - I don't think they are the original plastics from this bike, there are traces of it being red before and I forgot what the color codes said on it but I don't think it is the purple.

I see. Well it has a unique look! Wish my bike looked like yours

As for my f2, after getting the fairings off I got to inspect the frame closely like i mentioned earlier.

Somebody spray painted some black paint all over the triple tree, the clip ons, even the spy-glass for the frontbrakes fluid reservoir!

I can see where the paint starts and where it ends, because the rest of the frame is silver. Like they put down masking tape to keep the black from spreading all over the place.

Why would they do that? I don't get it. [:@]

Same on my f2. that goof-off might take that off the fluid level check window. Put some on a q-tip and see if it removes the spraypaint.

Just liked the look of black instead of silver I suppose.

Actually I like your colors better than mine.

heh-heh I guess the grass is always greener NotNY

Good idea about cleaning the sight glass

The clutch lever and both brakes feel really good and the throttle has loosened up and is no longer sticking. I can roll the throttle and release and it'll snap back.
