Default RE: sorry wrong answer

I've never heard of using paper eithor. But like I said earlier, he seems like he knows what he's talking about. I got a guy with a shop here and he's pretty respected. He's the one that told me I could take the airbox lid off or use the individual filters. But congradulations, you are the high bidder on ebay and should have a new set of carbs soon. I'll ship all the rest of the stuff you wanted with those so you can save on shipping.

ORIGINAL: phishstyx

$1200 total with the initial $500 bike. Now what I'm curious is that was it worth it buying the F2 as a track bike, and should I have saved up a bit more and just got an SV or something like that. Pretty much is the F2 suited for the track?
My F2 is solely for track and I know many who race them. I'm actually considering trying the racing next year.

There should be a class for SV's and older 600's, because of course we cant compete with brand new 600 screamers.

Racing is about the rider. The bike counts, don't get me wrong but in beginning amature racing it has a lot to do with skill level. It's not like the quarter mile where you keep the bike pegged. It's about leaning and braking and running your own lines.

In WERA the class is called Vintage 7 Middleweight,or V7mw.That's the class I race in.

Individual filters,or "pod" filters are used on flatslide carbs, also called smoothbore carbs.Sounds like your guy is a drag racer.I don't know much about it,from a competitors point of view. These bikes don't use the same theory as an old push-rod Chevy motor by shoving more open air for more power.Intake velocity is where good horsepower starts. On our bikes, the airbox helps make this.

Pardom me for making a squid comment but what is the difference on flatside carbs? I'm no carb expert, I just know they are a pain in the ***. I work on my own bike and do almost all my own mods but carbs and internals I take to my shop. He's an older head and has a great reputation in my area. Almost everyone I know sends their bike to this guy and waits 4-6 weeks just to get in.
