Default Clutch Question

i have search for info but havent found anything that was really helpful with my issue.

My friend did the -1/+2 sprocket change on his 08 r6 and i took it for a spin yesterday. having not riden his for quite awhile, when i got on my bike today i noticed that my cluch is extremly hard to pull in compared to his. never really thought about it before since i had nothing to compare it to. is this normal for bikes of this age. is there something that i can do to remedy it. i checked the line for any signs of a kink and whatnot and couldnt find any.

also the handle itself has a bit of play in it up and down (opposite the in/out motion of engaging it) is this an issue as well?

Thanks in advance any advice is appreciated.

It could be his clutch springs are just easier to pull. I dont think he has a hydraulic clutch?

If its always been that way on your bike check for kinks in the cable and try lubing it a bit. If that doesnt work you could get some new springs for the clutch plate. Thatll help.

it sounds like your clutch cable is starting to go with the bike being as old as it is thats probably the problem

It's not necessarily an indication of any problem, just a showing of it's age most likely. New springs are an option. I'd start by getting a cable-lubing kit and see how that treats you as Fenatic suggested.

It's an old bike and probably has the original cable on it still so some lube might go a long way.
