CBR 600F2 think i should just break down and clean the carbs?

Default CBR 600F2 think i should just break down and clean the carbs?

so i got this 1992 cbr 600f2 on a trade for a junk car i had it didn't start at the time the guy said he rode it home with the choke on and it fouled the plugs got it took it home that night cleaned the plugs and still no start
i ended up putting a brand new battery in it with new plugs and it started right up like nothing was ever wrong let it set that night next day went to start it and it was struggling to start got it started went for a ride and all the power was there wasn't cutting in and out got home and next day wouldn't start took the plugs out and they where black black knowing it was running Ritch i got new plugs got some sea foam ran it trough the gas and went for a ride this time it developed a misfire midway through the ride and in about 20 mins of riding just shut off everyone that i talk to keeps saying oh it cant be the carbs it runs and idles to good for the carbs to be bad but at this point iv replaced the petcock plugs and made sure all the fuel lines where routed correctly ill add a link to a youtube video with how it runs and pictures in this thread
edit -i also replaced the airlifter already when all this happened

Despite what people say, stay away from Seafoam. It’s useless at best.

How does the duel filter look? How about the inside of the tank when there’s no fuel?

A carb cleaning may very well be in order if the bike has sat with fuel in it.

inside the tank is spotless i was amazed when i looked in it and the bike doesn't have a fuel filter outside of the tank it has that net on the inside for the pickup of the petcock and it as well is clean only reason i had ran sea foam through it was a guy that was gonna clean them at a motorcycle shop told me to run that through it and see if it improved (im young and know fk all about carbs) think it could just be syncing issue? or carbs are dirty and a float is getting stuck?

Your bike should have a fuel filter. It should go in between the petcok and the fuel pump. Some f2 folks remove their pump but that's a conversation for another time.

When the bike is having issues, open the fuel cap. See if that helps. You may have something as simple as a pinched vent tube.

from the petcock it goes straight to the T for the carbs prolly got removed but i checked the vac hose that goes to the petcock itself its fine the 2 vent hoses on the side of the carbs there's no pinch in them im off work for a few days so im gonna just start ripping the carbs off and just check them out iv spent more time googling this bike when i could just be fixing it lol

You most likely have multple problems. Stay away from Seafoam, it has large percentage of isopropryl alcohol 30-40%. Which is similar to the ethanol in modern petrol. Alcohols suck moisture out of air and when saturated, it separates out. Water layer causes all sorts of issues in fuel systems with clogging and corrosion. Very, very last thing you want to be putting in your tank. Use PEA-based fuel-system cleaners instead. Works much better at cleaning and won't corrode your fuel-system from inside out.

- Red Line SI-1
- Techron Concentrate Plus
- 3M Max Strength Fuel System Cleaner #08814
- Royal Purple Max Atomizer 18000
- Gumout All-in-One (might be off list soon due to lowering amounts of PEA)

Next up is carbs. You'll need to measure all jets and verify they are factory sizes. Too many carbs have been mangled by POs who drill out jets thinking more fuel equals more power. Opposite is actually true. Remember that '60s hot-rod saying?

Need more than cleaning, more like full restoration job. Proper carb-restoration requires completely disassemble carbs down to every last nut, bolt and individual component. Scrub out secret hidden passages with PEA-based fuel-system cleaner and scrub-brushes. That's where most clogs hide, especially at 90-degree bends. Then ultrasonic soak everything. Micro soda-blast. Replace all rubbers, float-valves, float-bowl seals, fuel-rail O-rings, pilot-screw O-rings, even slide diaphragms if needed. Not very many people have the equipment much less experience & skill to do this kind of work.

Too much to learn and lots of specialised equipment needed just for one set of carbs. Send carbs to this outfit. Many, many decades experience on thousands of carbs. Expert workmanship, reasonable fees (much less than what shops charge), and quick turnaround.

i found out what was wrong with it on both of the petcocks i had the switch for on would not give it enough fuel still doesn't explain why the plugs were black like that but just taking a old gastank from a go cart and gravity feeding it it runs fine so i took my old petcock part and just made it a gravity feed without the vacuum i have a dead miss on a cylinder now but i found some rubber in the pickup of the petcock so i need to take a look in the carbs and make sure the jet is not blocked from a piece of that rubber how long will the gravity feed work i have no idea but im just gonna run it like that till i can afford a decent petcock the cheap ones just are not it

Get rebuild kit for factory petcock. Replaces just worn out soft bits. Then it’ll work like brand new.

yesir that's what I'm in the process of doing i decided to take carbs off and clean them also found out 2 of the floats are not working properly so also rebuilding them
