Blown head gasket?

RE: Blown head gasket?
No the cams are driven by a chain that runs down to the crankshaft. The cams must be remove to get the head off. By the way, the exact same thing happened to me, but I bought my bike used from an ex-road racer and noticed that there was a weld puddle on the outside of the water jacket on the crankcases and inside the water jacket around the cylinders there was JB Weld. I ended up replacing the cases. Make sure there aren't any cracks in your head or engine cases that may allow oil to seep into your coolant. You should also check your oil cooler (the aluminum box on the front of the engine). There are four o-rings that are supposed to seal the internal chamber that holds oil to the oil passages in the cases and two big o-rings that seal theexternalchamber to the water passages. Perhaps the inner chamber is cracked or the o-rings are bad. Good luck!

RE: Blown head gasket?
Update:
Got the engine out of the bike (three hr ordeal without a shop to work in) took off the valve cover and that white creamy stuff (anitfreeze/oil) was in there so i am sure its the headgasket at this point. checked the valve clearances and they were all within spec. Havn't actually taken the head off yet, I need to get a 9mm allen socket for those. but so far so good. anything else i should be thinking about while i have the engine out?

RE: Blown head gasket?
I'm fixing the same problems on my 1994 F2. First I replaced the water pump as well as the small hose that goes from the pump to oil cooler (hose split 59 miles from home). Had to flush cooling system (4qt of oil sucked out of my engine). Rode bike 20 miles and coolant oil mix again. Now engine is out and I have new head gasket, took head to a shop to have tested for warping. there was some warping .005 that was fixed 35$. Thanks to this site I found out that the O rings in the oil cooler may be bad. THEY WERE BAD! I almost put the bike back together without checking that. That should cover all possible mixing spots. Check those O rings! Now to put the engine together.
