Default Battery problems

I have a 94 F2 and have been going through batteries about every 3 or 4 months. I have had the charging system checked at two different shops and have also checked it myself. It checks out fine. The regulator/rectifier also checks out fine. I can ride it to work, about 10 miles, and everything is fine. If I ever ride for over 50 miles at one time, when I pull it into the garage, a very strong smell is coming from the battery. The next day, the battery is completly dead. It can't be charged and I have to get another battery. Could it still be the regulator/rectifier even though it checks out ok? I think the battery is getting overcharged. What does everyone think?

Thanks for the help,
Gusto.

It still sounds lik.e the R/R to me. The very same thing was happening to mine earlier this year and a new R/R fixed it right up. How are you testing your R/R? The manual is very specific about the kind of multimeter to use when you test it. Take it to Honda dealer and have them check it for you.

I ordered a new OEMR/R off of ebay. They do hav.e aftermarket ones for F2s with cooling fins on them and you ca.n find deals on them sometimes on ebay. I sort of wis.h I would've gotten one of tho.se. My old one lasted 26,000 miles. The new one should last that long as well...then I'll get a fan.cy finned one.
