Bent fork! help!
So I bought this F2 for $400. It runs like a champ, engine and carbs in excellent condition. Needs new plastic which I already ordered.
Couple days after I bought it, i wanted to test the used bike's potential so i was riding hard and came home and noticed that both of the fork seals were leaking terribly.
So I took it to a private mechanic who put new seals in the forks.
Couple things he noticed was that
(1) Somebody put the old seals the opposite way
(2) The old seals were in bad condition/ damaged
(3) Right fork was kinda bent or a little maybe
So he replaced the seals and the oil.
I rode home and I noticed that there was very little oil on the lips of the seal (less than a drip), you know what i am talkin about? very little oil.
So does it usualy happen after putting new seal and oil? or whenever you ride, little oil is always there cuz the metal part goes in?
One more thing I wanna ask the forum, since the right fork is kinda bent, is it safe to ride like that? and for how long? would the right fork start leaking again eventually?
Not to mention but the bike handles like a dream and the alignment is perfect!.
Any thoughts? comments? please chip in
Thanks

i personally wouldnt ride with a bent anything on a motorcycle. bent = stress . and stressed parts can break or fail much more easily. pm if you need any parts. i have an extra fork and set of trees if ya need em
Somethings you can get away with when bent. Subframe, rear brake pedal...
Some things are never meant to be bent. Forks is one of them. TougeMonster is 100% correct. Once it is bent, it is compromised and weakened. How much, you'll never know... Until it snaps under load

As long as there are no creases, the fork tube will be fine. You can have the tube straightened, which I believe your tech should have done when he serviced your forks.I bent the d/r forks on my racebike (got run off the track @ T2 Road Atlanta '05).I had the forks serviced by Thermosman and baddabing they're right as rain.Won the GNF in '08 on the exact same forks.
