Default Another n00b question - this time about oil check.

Simple question: Do you check the oil with the dip-stick screwed in or not?

My original user manual is in german - and I flunked my german classes in school - so I have no idea what Honda say im supposed to do.

My guess: check without screwing it in (at least thats what im used to do on cars with threaded dipsticks).

I could have sworn that the manual I had said to check the oil without screwing the dipstick in, but make sure the bike is upright.

Yes, that would be my guess aswell, but like I said its only a guess since i dont have the manual (or atleast an understandable one ).

Thx for the reply. Always better to be safe than sorry. Had I checked the dip-stick with it screwed in i prolly would have ended up with to little oil. On the other hand - had it been the other way around, I might have ended up with too much oil.

Mike is correct. Check the oil with the engine warm, the bike upright, and the dipstick NOT screwed in.
