Default Acceleration Problem

I have a problem,
the first few gears the bike will scream up the rpm gauge, but when I am in 6th gear and twist the throttle, it just bogs with no RPM gain, I have to baby the throttle in 6th to get it up to 70 or 80 mph.

Any thoughts out there?

If your engine dies while the throttle is maxed, you might be flooding the engine, or not getting enough fuel, but you did say that it workz for the other 5 gears. Reguardless i think you are going to have to break down the fuel system, and check the in and outs of the fuel flow, and carbs.

The first 4 gears it will quickly redline., But in 6th with max throttle it does not increase in RPM, like if you are in 6th at 6000 rpm and nail it, it stays at 6000 and surges like it wants to take off but can't.

are you running your gears up or are you doing the "correct shift". I can hit 70 to 80 in first no problem.

Default RE: Acceleration Problem

Okay, If anyone is interested I fixed the problem.

I ordered a Dynojet jet kit and installed it. I noticed that the original Jets were 132's and the largest jets that came with the DynoJet kit were 126's. I went ahead and installed the kit. During test drive it still had the acceleration problem, but not quite as bad. I Emailed Dynojet asking why the largest jet in the kit was a 126 and they said that they number their jets differently than anyone else,, ummmm okay.

Since it did run a little better, I went ahead and ordered a Jet kit that came with 140, 145. 150 and 155 size jets.

I installed the 140's today and they look about 1/3 larger than the Dynojet 126 jets. Test drove it and it ran GREAT!!

Morale of the story,,, TOO LEAN!!! needed more Fuel.

Okay, Dyno Jet is a manufacture of re-jetting kits. It comes with new jet needles and Main Jets. You have to remove the Carburators and replace the Jet Needles and remove the Float Bowl to replace the Main Jets.

I have done a little more experimenting since last post. I installed 145 main jets and then installed the original Needles and it ran like Crap again, I put the Dybo Jet needles back in and it ran great again. The biggest correction comes with the needles.
