well i bought the bike from a friends and the bike was in a fire. I went through and had the carbs compeltly clean by a local shop in my town. the aftermarket exhaust was already one the bike when i got it. and the problem with 4th and 5th gear its been like that since i have had the bike. so idk... i was thinking i might need to put a jet kit in it.

i just put the 12 oclock bar on last week and have not got a stunt sprocket yet. have to wait for my taxs to come back. lol

BUT, you are gonna lose some torque. Especially in the low range. And the F4i is not a torque monster anyway so you will lose some performance for the noise factor.
So you could be running lean. If you're sure of the work by the guy who did the carbs a jetkit might be the solution. Someone suggested to try running with the choke on to see if it helps. Another way to test would be to block off part of the air filter with duct tape or something, restricting the air flow.

If your RPMs are dropping when it happens, I don't see how it could be tranny related. Slip out of gear, hard to get into gears: yes. Bogging out, you have an A/F issue
