Wont start up.
Hello.
I am not as salty with the wrenching as some of you out there. Thats why I am askin. i was running my cane for about 15-20 mins. Killed the engine, and now it wont start up again. Instrument panel lights up very dim, and head light is slightly dim. However switching it to brights has a pretty long delay.
So tell the truth. Is it the battery? And if so, where would be the best place to get a new one?
Thanks

well, it could be the battery, but even if you get a new one, it could me masking a more serious problem, that the battery is not charging.
any local motorcycle shop can sell you a battery, but i would check to see if the battery is getting charged or is able to hold a charge. dim lighting is one clue but it isn't the only one.
is the engine turning? have you tried charging the battery overnight? do you know what the voltage is across the terminals before and after charge? try to see if any of your local motorcycle shops can load test the battery to see if it is still good or not.
these are just a few suggestions, i'm sure there will be more forthcoming.

Its the battery. Not enought juice to start it. Bump start it. If it starts, then thats the problem. I had the same issue. Bought a new battery. Made sure it was charged correctly, and no problems since. Old Battery wasnt holding a charge.
My old battery on the meter registered 6.8 and bike would not stay running after jumping it. battery registered 10.4 when not running but lights dimmed and not enough juice to start it alone.
do i need just a new battery? or is there another problem?

Take the battery out of the bike and put it on a charger. After you're done charging it, see if it's between 12.4-13 volts. Then, leave it alone for a few hours or overnight. When you come back, see where it's at. If it's less than 12 then it's toast and you need a new one. IF it's between 12.4 and 13 then it might be fine, toss it back in the bike and see how you do.
And please don't JUMP your bike with a car. You're likely to fry something. And don't charge the battery in the bike for the same reason.
