battery voltage should be above 12 volts, like closer to 13.xx
when you crank it, you are dropping too many volts to work the ignition system
use a pair of jumper cables, connect it to a NON RUNNING CAR battery, and i bet it starts up.
lots of cranking will wear down a motorcycle battery fast. put it on a charger, less than two amps for a few hours.
bad battery, low battery, and probably weak electrical connection somewhere.

Check you R/R man, could be possible that it’s causing problems and easy to test.

What's that?
How do I test it?

i think...
the starting circuit is taking the signal for the coils away. the run circuit is fine with the key on, thats why you can push start it.

were any wiring mods or repairs done recently?
does anyone have a wiring diagram for this bike that i can look at?

The CBR models all have a permanent magnet battery charging system, consisting of a stator with three output wires, which feed into a regulator/rectifier. This unit rectifies the AC into DC and regulates this DC to 14.5V to ensure proper battery charging.

If you haven’t already,, https://cbrforum.com/forum/cbr-600f-...1990-a-128286/ and troubleshoot the charging system.

this may seem like a stupid question, but...
the button engages the starter. is the engine turning over? sounds dumb i know, but if the starter drive is broken, it will make noise but not really be cranking the engine. it would act exactly like it is.

no mods other than adding aftermarket turn signals. no splicing or anything

theres a wire diagram in the manual. i can post it up if you want
i was looking though it the other day i dont think i saw anything

i thought maybe it wants to see the motor crank faster.
maybe push starting in 2nd cranks it faster than the starter can so it starts then?
but it used to electric start...
then i had issues with the main power relay...and now it doesnt.
im thinking maybe i should just try a new one...

im pretty sure
like i said more throttle lets it spin more freely (it sounds like)
and if i run the starter and pop the clutch itll jerk

your battery is dead from all the cranking, did you get it at walmart? it was bad from the beginning...
ignition system needs atleast 12 volts to work. its not getting that when you use the starter.
how is your positive battery cable? is it corroded? the wire is made of aluminum. crappy design.
use jumper cables, hook it up to a non running car battery, and tell us if it starts.
