Default Ticking or light knocking

I have a ticking or light knocking coming from the front of the engine in the centre. CBR600F 1988, 46,500 miles. Any ideas. And how long does it take to be cleared by the administrator on here?

These bikes are known to have a slight 'tick' at times. If its really bad, it might be the chain tensioner. The oem cam chain tensioners on these bikes suck. You can either replace with another oem or a manual cam chain tensioner (both about $50). I'd try that first. Knocking on the other hand can be combustion related, or maybe worn cam journals. Hard to speculate with out hearing it myself. If the bike is new to you, the PO may not have taken care to change the oil frequently or rev the nuts off of a cold engine, which can cause excessive wear.

There is no specific period of time. Just keep posting, the more the better!

Thanks for the info. It only starts when the engine is warm so I'm figuring cam cain tensioner or piston slap.
