steering damper ??
Hey guys a buddie of mine has a used steering damperthat he will sell me for $50. Is it worth putting on my cane? Ive never had a problem (speed wobble) but wouldnt it be good insurencejust incase? Im not surewhere I would even mount it?
it isn't really necessary unless you start messing with the suspension height. if left stock and everything is in working order, you should have no problems. the steering on this bike is very neutral at high and low speeds. i've never encountered a wobble of any kind high or low speed.
if you do want to mount a damper, it will depend on what style it is, rotary (gpr, scotts, etc.) or stick type (daytona, hyperpro, etc.). rotary damper has to mount above the top clamp while stick types can be mounted on the side of the bike or just behind the top triple with the necessary mounting bracketry. either way, you will need to either make a bracket or find a spot to mount the damper.
there are no damper kits made for these particular model years (87-90). you will have to get a little custom work done such as i have (i am not running a stock frontend anymore). but like i said before, depends on the type of damper involved.

Im undecided. another friend of mine has a 83? nighthawk (i know not atall like our bikes)and last year he hit a pot hole or somthing and it sent him in a speed wobble. it didnt look good. Just thought It might be a good thing to have
