Except for my dirt bike I don't bolt down the seat on any of my bikes. That said I keep a pair or Rok straps attached which serve the dual purpose of keeping the seat attached and strapping cargo down.

One other thought is to install a threaded insert in the bottom of the seat the in the bump that is just in front of the tail light. You could then drill up through the rear fender liner and use a bolt to attach the seat. I've seen it done on other bikes but am not sure if it would work on the Hurricane.

Great idea. Will check it out! Love Rok straps! Never let me down.

Bolts out won't work well, as the seat drops down. The insert idea looks promising however.

Brewing an idea using a linear actuator, cheapest ones on ebay go for 20-30 bucks. Will see how it could workm

Watching this with interest as i hate having to remove my side panels to take the seat off.
The fixings for my side panels are not the best so i put a cable tie on underneath (out of sight) to make sure a panel never falls off so i have to cut the ties every time i remove them

No victories yet. Anything that doesn't use the stock bolt pattern seems unstable. Gonna play with it this weekend. Looking at welding flats below the bolt holes to support....then??? I'll keep you informed!
