Seat release for F1?
I want to make my seat easier to remove quickly. I've already changed the OE seat bolts for ones with an Allen head, I can use a long ball end key to remove without taking off side panels. But it still is a pain, especially trying to get them back in! Any ideas? Hook or pull release et cetera. Any ideas appreciated!

How about electric actuators? I'm planning to fabricate a button operated system to my Daytona from electric car door lock motors. They don't have much push though so the pins should need to go into the holes without much force. There are small electric solenoids in ebay that has more pull force but the stroke length is usually very small, like 8mm or so.
If you want I could scribble a some sort of an illustration tonight of a few ideas I got. Making them work for your bike falls to you though. Do you have a welding rig? |
Mattson, I can fab up what whatever is required :-) . I'd likely prefer a mechanical (non electric) release, but now you've got me thinking!

Was too tired to fight with the 3d renderer yesterday, will try to do it today. Got an idea that can use a universal choke cable to open.

How about a quick release push T bolt from farm or trailer equipment?

I wonder if you could just cut a slot in the seat bolt holes so you only have to loosen the bolts and slide the seat off. A quick release pin would work, but it would be loose and rattle..

Good thought, but the main problem is the access to the seat bolts and replacing them with the side panels on. I have perfect OEM panels so only stress them when necessary lol! I don't really know if there is enough metal to make a slot work. I will check it out tomorrow. Thanks!

Mr giggles, is your super trap just a can or part of a full system? I'm curious.
