Default Running Fat?

Bought an '88 Cane couple o' weeks ago and am loving it. Everything is stock, cleaned the carbs and replaced all fluids and the air cleaner and spark plugs as well.

My question is that when she starts up, it kind of lugs to life. Hesitates for a sec before returning to idle. When warm I apply a tiny bit of throttle and it fires right up. Idles and runs perfectly, but wondering what the problem could be. Thanks for any input!

If I don't apply a little bit of throttle it may take 3 to 4 attempts. How could I remedy this?
