RE: removing fuel tank
hi,
there isn't much to be cautious about on this model. there is only one fuel route. it goes from tank to valve to filter to pump to carbs. remove rear bodywork to get to fuel lines and remove seat to get to rear tank bolt.
just make sure the fuel petcock is in the "OFF" position. i would recommend shutting off the fuel, have a container handy and unclamp the fuel line from the midpoint of the delivery system. that way you have enough hose from either end to work with when letting the remaining fuel drain from the system into a container. or you can just run engine till all fuel in line is used up. when it is all gone motor will sputter and die. no fuel to spill this way if you don't have container to catch it.
when that is done just undo the front and rear tank bolts, lift the rear of the tank a little and pull back. there are two small diameter rubber hoses on the bottom of the tank held on by simple hose clips. one is for gas overflow and the other is a breather hose. if you tip the tank over, you will get runout from either one.
other than that, nothing else to speak of. have fun...
