I have actually had a small amount of trouble removing my rear wheel, the rear brake mount was binding the axle and it would not slide out, try grabbing the rear brake caliper and wiggle it as you slide your axle out.

I'd recommend trying to free any parts that are stuck with some penetrating oil. then use some wood and a hammer to get some movement started on the stubborn parts. start with gentle tapping and slowly give stronger ones. 'worry the part', stick at it - tapping and lubing. Don't get mad at it, just persevere and don't worry. If it won't budge after 10 mins or so just try and soak it and then do something else and have another go the next day. I don't know why but leaving stuff that is stubborn to remove comes away really easily the following day. My rear wheel spindle was fairly dry when I came to removing it but I got it out using this method. A block of 2x4 on the end of the spindle hit in a controlled manner with a rubber mallet got mine out eventually. you'll do it trust me.
