jeez that sucks, don't you need to torch red locktite to get it off? Anyway from all I read when I was gonna do my fork seals was to loosen that bolt while the forks were still attached to the triple if it's the same thing I'm thinking of. Not sure if it would help with the red loctite though.

Also loving the bike and glad to see you werent too injured from your accident

I've always been able to break red loctite cold, but these ones are different. I even picked up some extended hex drivers to use a 3/8" ratchet on them - didn't budge. Hex bolts strip so easy! One of the fork bolts is already starting to round off... Last night I inverted the forks and sprayed some PB in the wells - hopefully it soaks down and loosens the bond. Failing that, I guess its the flame wrench :s. Hopefully there are no rubber seals that get cooked.

Try an impact wrench if you have one...or tap the wrench with a hammer. Impact helps to break the bond. Heat helps at the same time but don't get it red hot...just hot. Sometimes trying to tighten a little first before loosening works.

if all else fails,if you have access to a welder, put a tight fitting bolt in the hex head, weld it (this will put some heat in) then use a socket to undo,i have had to do this on brake rotors before

Well the heat didn't do it. Bolt head is starting to round off. Sigh... I only have 1 head lift, so its not easy to just swap the forks between bikes. I will try the welding a bolt on suggestion... trouble is I don't have a welder. I will take these forks to work, see if the shop guys have any ideas.

Is this a bolt that holds the damper cartridge in? I haven't taken the CBR forks apart but will be doing mine soon. On my Norton there is a bolt that hold the cartridge in and it is up in there past the axel hole. These are tough to get at. I wonder why they put Loctite on them...they sometimes need a little silicone to keep from leaking, but Loctite?

You might want to consider drilling it out and chasing the threads. You would need to be careful because the slider is aluminum, but I don't see how you will weld to that bolt. The slider housing is in the way...plus you are welding steel in aluminum.

Another idea may be to soak it in solvent. LocTite is a cyanoacrylate (like Super Glue). Others have had success with acetone. Hobby shops sell Super Glue solvent, which might work.

The one problem with solvent is to get it into the threads. I would consider a pan with acetone so you can submerge it for some time (maybe a day or two).

Not much of an update. I have been brutally sick for about a week. Still waiting for the Dr's tests to let me know what ails me.

As for the bikes, I have set aside the pain in the *** fork and tried removing the bolt from the other fork. I heated the sh*t out of it and hammered it until it finally broke loose. But now I can't seem to bunk the seals out. I removed the retainer clip but it seems like the fork is hitting something hard inside. The FSM just says hammer the insert against the seal and it will come out?

Anyways, I am off until Jan 6, so I will hopefully get a bunch more work done.

Your gonna need to hammer it out way harder than you did in the video. It's going to be very loud.
