False alarm... Was looking at a donor bike today. Oddly enough, it was "too good", perfectly good bike. Didn't have the heart to strip her out.

So donor bike becomes new daily rider, the one you just broke becomes the parts bike...

Oh course thats an option. I just don't have the space for 2 bikes, and there is really nothing wrong with my bike, except for the plastics. I can't justify spending that much on something where in couple of hours work I can fix it. Plus I don't have the heart to strip and lay up a perfectly good bike.

I have the same problem.. I felt bad parting out my XR350 even though the engine was blown up. I knew I could fix it, but it wasn't worth it financially unless I kept the bike forever.

Are you looking for just plastics or hard parts too? I've seen some hurricanes on craigslist being parted out recently, but would probably be expensive to ship fairings.

Pretty much left the plastics. Only metal that is damaged is the fairing stay. Nothing that a blue flame can't fix.

Oddly enough, there is an off chance I MAY be heading down to San Fran in the next little bit... I'll keep that in mind

Ok, so I bought it. Guy contacted me on the weekend that he'd accept my offer. Awesome! Rode it 30 minutes home. It was dark, and the headlight burnt out halfway home.
Not a bad little bike for $400. Cam chain rattles and need some lovin here and there... still haven't taken the plastics off. Looks good for x48000km.

Nice! A running and rideable bike for $400 sounds like a great deal to me, especially with a full set of fairings.

Yeah, I thought it was a good deal too. Looking forward to seeing whats under the plastic. If I do go ahead and use the 'new' bike as a basis, I dread pulling that shift kit out and putting it in the new bike...

I'll get some more pics, maybe a vid up this weekend.
