Race Prep Questions
I was thinking of putting my '89 on the race track, and I am curious as to what others have done to make the F1 race ready. I'm not really in a position to drop $3K+ for an F3/F4/RR, so I was just going to work with what I have.
The local club here, CMRA, mandates a lower fairing that can hold 5 quarts of fluids. The Airtech body that came with the bike when I bought it obviously won't do the trick. Is going with a newer body style going to be the simplest, most cost effective way to get the old girl on the track?
I was planning on running classic and superstock classes (It's been 20 years since I last raced...UGH!), so modifications are limited.
I've tried to search various forums, and the net, but find little to no info on people racing the old 'Cane. Surely one of the icons of the sportbike world has not disappeared from the race world entirely.

They're raced for sure! Best bet would be try the local race tracks and see what they're doing.
I know some bikes were exempted from the 5L rule at my home track - because some bikes really were impossible. If it is available for your bike they make you have it, otherwise, you can't do much.
Usually someone at the track will either make pans or have brought a pan. Best bet is there...
Good luck!
