Default Trip Prep

What do you guys do before a big trip to make sure that the CBR is up for the run. I'm planning a 330 mile trip from NJ to NH via VT and am going over everything this week. I am going to install a new CCT as the old on is quite loud when cold and I dont want to get stuck. I'm planning on installing a charger for my cell phone/gps. Hoping to track down some new bar weights (I think mine got stollen as they both disappeared on the same day!!) And planning on checking tire pressure/chain lube. Any must have's or must do's I'm missing?

Last weekend I put on 649 miles from upstate NY, camping in upper VT and up Mt Washington NH. The bike was not the issue as I keep it up to date. My only concerns were camp gear, bug spray and things like sun screen. A flashlight is always handy.

New CCT is in. It was a bit of a pain because 2 of the top guide bolts stripped out. I noticed that the new CCT had a significantly deeper reservoir and a rail to direct oil to the CCT. Bike sounds great.

I don't know that I'd call 330 miles a big trip - I've pedaled more miles than that in a day on my bicycle.

However, check the obvious things like correct tire pressure, chain adjustment and lube, make sure the engine sounds normal. If you're staying overnight you'll need a fresh set of clothes for the next day.

Your gear may be as important as the bike. Have a look at this if you want to be the well prepared Boy Scout.
