pain switching to reserve?

wait, you guys are right. haha i'm being retarded, when you mentioned off is on the seat i figured it out LOL. if your sucking dry even with it on "ON" then could be the valve is bad, OR is the pipe missing? my friend zzr600 has that problem, the "pipe" or "straw" that it sucks through when using "ON" fell outta place and it dangline in the tank, so either position it's like being on reserve... haha

i ran out of gas yesterday with my arrow pointing UP (what i thought was ON) -- but once i switched it to DOWN (what i thought was RES) -- it was all i could do to even get it started with full choke on, and once put into gear it was dead. i didnt get anywhere. i then proceeded to push my bike to the nearest gas station. SUCKED lol
whats wrong with my switch? from browsing this thread you all say you turn it clockwise, well i believe mine turns counter-clockwise.... is that the issue?

actually, your reserve does work, it has a much shorter straw on the petcock, so running it full time in reserve it should run fine, when the "on straw" loses liquid is when the motor starts stumbling , then switch so reserve (shorter straw) my guess is thats why a lot of bikes dont have a gas indicator on the dash, but then there are the same type of person that relies on their "idiot lights" in their cars (sorry if anyone here is acceptably absent minded....dont mean any offence)
i just find the easiest way to avoid reserve issues is keep it full, every time i go for a longer ride ill stop and top her off before i go home, every couple days if im just blowing around town (hurricane...blowing around get it LOL)
sorry about the bad jokes, ill keep em to a minimum
