Default noisy clutch??

dont know how loud they usually are (first bike) but is it normal for the clutch to make a rattleing kind of noise when you are in nuetral with the clutch engaged ( like not touching the lever at all). thanks, just a curious question, trying to figure out if something is wearing. thanks guys!

cam chain is fine, just had the head off and checked. and it only happens when I let the clutch out. if I pull the clutch in it is gone and perfectly quiet. thanks!

Believe it or not, you probably just need to synchronize your carburetors. My 1000 had a nasty rattle at idle with the bike in neutral, and after I synched the carbs, it went almost completely away. The uneven idle of carbs out of synch causes the clutch plates to rattle in the basket, and you can only feel it at idle with the clutch out. Try that before jumping to any other conclusions. Easy to do and if you do your own maintenence, you should have a dececnt set of synch gauges anyway. It will make your bike run better too.

cbreric, I'm glad you brought this topic up. My 89 does the same thing.

glad I could help others lol I will be getting or borrowing a carb sync tool and trying it. might clean up the low end stutter a little as well. not real bad, just a bit off it seems until I get to like 3-4k rpm

Hello everyone, I know it's a pretty old topic, but is there anyone who remember the solution of this noise? I rode yesterday in very hot weather, I also got stuck in few traffic jams and heard some click sound on neutral. Iddling was not perfectly smooth (ventilator was switching on / off vary times - does it have any impact on iddle?). When I push the clutch, the noise is gone. Maybe it's common noise. I can't hear it with closed helmet. (May be I should keep the helmet closed = problem solved. ) It's CBR 1990 with 46000 km. Thank you very much for your answers.

Add. It was first ride after oil change.

Good day all

I have this problem. Noise on the clutch, but with a difference. When I let the clutch out while in gear and the bike nearly stalls then pull clutch back in, the noise stops. Need some expert advice on this one!

Thanks in advance
