i would check the compression. should be atleast 120 psi? check the others, not good if they vary more than 10%.

Compression is well within normal range on all four cylinders.

Going insane.

this is a weird one. I would double check that the wires are indeed going to the right cylinders, really sounds like the timing is off. you would be getting spark, just at the wrong time. it may backfire every once in a while if it is just dieseling, you get enough fuel in the cylinder and it compression ignites. worth a double check

I would take some pics of your wiring and post them. From spark plug wires back to the coils.
