RE: Need some insight
I run 89 octane. The gas **** is up for gas, forward for off and down for reserve. Do you do most of your riding around town? My bike will get 130 or so if I ride in town, but close to the 200 mark on the highways and interstate. Iagree withCH_Dave and I would just plan to stop every 100-120 just to be safe and to stretch. That's like every hour and half or so.

Ya all I pretty much do is ride within town. Stopping every 100 miles wouldnt be too bad, thats actually a good idea - We'll see, I'll be talking about it with my GF and my father tonight at dinner. If I ride it, ill buy a bungee cord or two and do the idea of strapping on a gas tank.

89 isnt allowed or something in cali? Also, ive never changed oil on a car or a bike in my life, but my next door neighbor loves to do that stuff and would help me out with that. What if my reserve doesnt work, cause my father rode it the other night and ran it out of gas and told me it didnt work for him, perhaps he didnt have it on the right setting.

if your neighbor likes to change oil, what the hell, let him do it. you'll be looking at about 3.4 quarts of oil with filter change. drain plug is under the engine, filter is behind the exhaust headers.
if you plan on getting rid of the bike afterwards, then i wouldn't spend too much time trying to fix the reserve portion of the fuel ****. just get a small gas can. you can average 40-45 miles to the gallon highway. that will more than get you to the nearest gas station if you plan your route well in advance. worse comes to worse, call AAA if you have it. if you don't, i suggest getting it just for the trip and then you can cancel your membership when you finish.

i've used spectro and castrol and others. but mainly semi synthetic 10-40. i do not see the need to spend the extra money for full synthetic or any other grade. as many miles as i rack up and the amount of oil changes i do a year, hardly matters that i use full syn oil. 10-40 is good all around. other than that, you're cruising, not racing.

in the manual, it's every 4k. i do every 3k just because that is what i do with my cars and i put on milage quickly. i've heard with full synthetic, the milage between changes goes up to 6k. if you don't ride much and aren't communting day in day out, or hard on the engine, you could stretch out your oil changes. i take care of my ride as best as i can given how much i ride it.

Alright, ill prolly change the oil tomorrow or friday. As of right now, after talking with my GF, my bike is going to be for sale. If I cant sell it before we leave, ill be riding it across country. Guess ill go make a post in the FS section.
Asking price is $1550, due to recent upgrades/replacements on the bike.
