I just got an 89 CBR 600 with full D & D system.. I decided to just keep the exhaust rather than try to find a stock system and spend the time, etc. I am wondering if anyone here has had their aftermarket muffler repacked or done it themselves and what the results were. I am thinking that this might be the way to make the bike a little quieter without a ton of effort? It is not terribly loud, but the system is pretty old - if it really needed repacking would it sound horrible?

it really is not hard to do and should make a bit of difference if the old packing is worn out.

 

When I refinished the CF D&D I have and put it all back togather its quieter that what ppl claim D&D's are. Mine doesnt seem all that loud at all to me. Just a nice deep tone.
