Fantastic to come back to the forum after a couple of years' away and find Cuzy's expert analysis of the frame crack! The Power of the Forum! Thanks for doing that, was a real buzz to come back and find you had made use of the part.

For those who want to get the crack repair welded (and not have the crack maybe show up again in a while) is anyone else on the forum good at designing weld repairs/reinforcement that won't simply transfer the problem somewhere else?

Thumbs up

Thank you very much for usefull information. I am going to buy 19990 CBR tommorow. Could you please kindly advise if the cracks are visible also with mounted plastics? I don't expect that seller will unmont them upon my request.

Thank you very much.

Just going from memory as I no longer have the bike: unless you use something like a borescope that enables you to look under the fairing, the main fairing needs to be off.
I'd be suspicious of any vendor who didn't let you look under or remove the fairings.

Thank you very much. It's private seller. I will probably ask him directly. Price is low, motorcycle old... I am not sure if he will be willing to remove it. I am going to check some tutorial how to remove the plastic. Tomorrow is the day D. Thank you very much...

Add me to the list. Picked up a 1988 CBR600F. Odometer claimed about 11,000 miles, bike abuse and neglect makes it impossible to determine if that's real or 50,000 shy of real. Wear items seem in good shape, and it runs great. But it's been crashed, stitched together, and left to rot, numerous times each.

Getting a big overhaul.
