Ive heard of people using a fuel pump from an 83 honda accord because it matches all the specs of the original. If you search you could probably find the thread for more info but downside is its larger so you have to get creative mounting it.

without the pump on mine it idles all day long, but when your riding it in town it would sputter and die about 10 minutes in. while on the highway it seems okay, as long as your revs say over like 4k lol. they all had fuel pumps from the factory even on the 250rr

Hmmmm I haven't had anything like that happen. I also read it was to help with higher rpm's which would make since. Not idle which would seem to be easily capable of being gravity fed.

The pump would be used in order to keep the float bowls filled when gravity couldn't I would think. Which would be under high rpms. Idle would not need a fuel pump. You would have a different problem like the slow jets being dirty or something like that if it would die in town. I live downtown and a majority of my riding is in town to get to school and it doesn't sputter or die. Maybe the carbs needed to be synced :/ I'm not saying your wrong, just thinking logically about why it is there...
