You will have to install one wire to ground from the CDI to make it work.

Billistic what do you mean i will have to install a ground wire to make it work??

all my wireing on the bike is in good working condition so i wouldnt think id need to install anything but the CDI

i honestly dont know a bunch about this bike its my first i got it last monday it wouldnt start and the guy said it needed a motor swap and it even came with a second motor and set of carbs but it turns out some electrical was hooked up wrong and the CDI was bad i figured that since it had 2 motors 2 sets of carbs al fairings in great condition i thought i got a great deal since all i gave him was my xbox360

You got an F1 and a complete 2nd motor, and all you gave him was a 360? Dayum... that's a sweet deal... even if you *do* have to swap the motor in.

EDIT: Oh, I think what Billistic may have been talking about was that the 89 and 90 MY had a "safety" feature that prevents the bike from starting if the kickstand is lowered. If you put an 89 CDI on your 88, you may have to wire that pin to ground to simulate the kickstand switch your bike doesn't have. That's my guess.

You are absolutely correct, my friend. How do I know? I put an '89 CDI on my '88 Hurricane. It is an easy thing to do and I have pics ready to post or if I can find the other post with them already in it.
