When I turn the key to on the fan starts up and never shuts off. I think this may be what is drawing my battery down as I ride as I have already replaced the R/R and it still draws down. If I disconnect the wire going to the thermostat on the radiator the fan shuts off. Any ideas? BTW the temp never goes above a shade over the C line.

 

your temp switch is probably bad.

 

+1 the temp switch has probably corroded a bit on the inside and shorted out. You can get a new one ($30-40), or you can just wire a switch from that wire to ground and turn it on/off at your leisure. ($5).
