I going to look at a 1990 cbr 600 soon and was wondering if it was a good price? there asking 1300 obo and has had recent tires, oil change, wheel bearings, speedo cable replace 3 yrs. ago. but he said it makes some nosie from the timing chain at around 2000 to 3000 rpm. also how much would that cost to fix that at a shop? other than that he said it was a reliable bike, and it has 48k km

$1300 sounds very reasonable. I'd offer him a $1k to just see what he says. Timing chain noise is prolly the CCT. Cost roughly $50 - $80 for the part itself. I do my own work so no clue what a shop would charge. A guess would be $200 give or take.

all cbrs make cct noise with an automatic tensioner at some point. make sure you pick up a manual tensioner. easy enough to do yourself too.
