Engine Differences between 87 cbr600fj & 89 cbr600fl
Hi
Got a little question about the differences between the FJ and FL engines.
I have noticed the Dynojet do a different kits for each and the kit for the fl has larger jets.
So what if any are the Differences??
I was going to be getting a set of carbs from a FL but I'm unsure weather it's worth it or not seein as it might be setup wrong for my FJ engine.
Thanks Dave

Dave,
I think the question you are asking has to do with the technical differences. Honda did some porting and combustion chamber mods on the 89 model year. There also was a change to the ignition and carburetion. The carbs were increased in size from 32mm to 32.5mm. There may be a slight jetting difference. I'm not sure if the OD of the carbs changed I think only the throat was increased, so the larger carbs should fit on an 87. Tuning may be a little different depending on whether your motor is stock or not. I think you can get the later carbs to work on an earlier engine but you may need to jet them to your engine and performance needs.
