I think you can access the fuel pump wiring without pulling the tank after taking the rear side fairings & seat off, but aside from that this is what you will need to do. If using a test light just connect one end to each wire on the harness and it should light up when cranking if you have power to the pump.

So if I don't have power to the pump its either the relay a blow fuse or a wiring problem somewhere? I know I'm asking a lot of questions and apologize I'm just frustrated with the situation. I did also grab my manual from my dads house so that should help me

Pretty much.. the fuel cut relay needs to have a tach signal (bike cranking or running) to turn on the fuel pump assuming it's getting power from the ignition switch. Another thing you could try is to disconnect the fuel pump connector and connect the two wires coming from the fuel pump directly to the battery. If the pump doesn't run with a direct connection to the battery it's definitely a problem in the pump. Green wire is ground and Black/Blue is power.

I wasn't sure if that would kill the pump or not. I was going to try it. I did pull the relay connection the other day, jumped it and the pump was pumping like normal. I want to thank you Tahoe rider and corrupt file. Anytime I post any questions you both are the first to respond and are very knowledgable.

It won't hurt the pump to test it that way, but it's only to be used as a test not to ride it with the pump hard wired to the battery. If the pump started running when you bypassed the relay that suggests the pump is working properly and it wouldn't be necessary to hook it up to the battery. It sounds to me like the relay is either not receiving power or a tach signal and in turn not sending power to the fuel pump. At this point you're going to have to get a test light or volt meter or it's going to be difficult to diagnose further unless it's a blown fuse.

Happy to help and hopefully you will be able to get it running again soon

edit: There's a really nice color wiring diagram that CorruptFile made posted in this forum somewhere that I would suggest downloading also which might help you track down the failed circuit.

Good news. Dad borrowed a power probe and ran the pump to get it re primed. Went to start and nothing wouldn't even rank. Looked at the fuses and a 10 amp had blown. Swapped fuse and fired and runs like brand new again

Happy to hear you got it fixed! The power probe is nice.. it's on my list of tools to buy in the future.

Thank you. Yeah I was pretty excited. Took it out of storage this morning and took all the abuse I could give it on my 15 min drive to work
