Default RE: difficulty question

1. remove rear side fairings if you have them.

2. remove seat

3. remove fuel tank.

4. remove airbox

5. remove cables one at a time and route new cable same as old.

6. adjust cable slack at carb adjuster, fine tuning at throttle adjuster.

7. replace everything in reverse order of removal.

Seeing that you've taken all that stuff off to get at the cables, you might consider any overdue/imminent jobs like replacing air filter, and taking lower fairings/radiator off to check valve clearances too... I found doing the valves is soooo much easier if you've gotthe airbox off.

YOu know, it's possible your cables are just adjusted incorrectly at the carb, not sticky. If they are tightened up a little too hard at the carb they can bind a little bit, but it's pretty uncommon for a throttle cable to actually become old and sticky. You might just try unhooking them at the carb and lubing them up and reconnecting-adjusting a little bit.

here's something along the same lines that you could do.

1. at the throttle, crack open the electric control pod to expose the ends of the cable.

2. when you have removed everything above the carbs, put some rags under the cable attachment.

3. now take a can of brake cleaner and the little straw that it comes with and from the top of the cable, flush the line with brake cleaner. whatever comes out at the end, the rags will saok up.

4. wait for the brake cleaner to evap from the line.

5. take lube and from the top of the cable, lube cables.

6. try the throttle.

7. if need to, clean the throttle return spring on the carb.

8. make your cable adjustments.
