Could use some help please
hey guys, i recently purchased my first sport bike. coming form a dual sport i was very excited. I wanted my first bike to be a project and boy that's what i got. i found a 1988 600f1 for sale for 400. complete with lots of extra parts just needed to be put together. so far the motor is in all new fluid, plugs and coils, came with a set of ebay carbs i cleaned up and stuck on, now here's the dilemma. The bike cranks, gets spark, and if i crack the drains on the float bowls there leak fuel implying they are full. it cranks and cranks and cranks and sputters like it wants to start. all 4 cylinders are getting spark, and if i try adding starting fluid it cranks with no intentions of starting for 15 seconds or so then backfires quite dramatically, it is fresh gas.one problem it has is the fuel pump relay was shot so ive rigged up a sort of gravity feed system temporarily that has filled the bowls. its getting pretty frustrating anyone have any ideas??? its my first time working on a bike so please excuse my ignorance, thanks for any help! One more thing, on the throttle side handle bar they are two cables coming out of the twist throttle one goes to control the throttle wheres the other go?? yes its a cluster 90% of the bike was in a box lol. thanks again!

The throttle cables both go on the carbs. One is the pull (opens throttle) the other is the return. If you look at the throttle plate you will see two holes for the ferrels.
If you get no fire when using starting fluid my guess is your not getting spark to all cylinders or something is wrong in the ignition system (coils, wires, CDI). If everything is working right it should fire and rev until it burns off the fluid...if getting fuel it should keep running. You may be spraying too much fluid tho. It only takes a small amount in each throat.
