Default clutch problems

1990 cbr 600f here. I burnt out the old clutch so i bought new friction plates and springs from ebc. (checked the numbers and they are the correct ones). so i install the new plates and springs and after i put it all back together and got the cover back on i went to reattach the cable and it was tough to get on, went to grab the clutch lever and its impossibly stiff like if i pull it something would snap. pulled it all apart checked plates and jutter spring in right position and the lifter piece was placed in the shaft in the cover properly, still the same thing. anyone know what the hell could be wrong?

Maybe those springs are too much? Also, I've heard of some clutch kits coming with an extra plate (e.g. the bike takes 5 and the kit has 6). Maybe the clutch cable can use replacing too.

yeah, new springs are too tough. put old springs back in and the pin now pushes on the lifter plate and functions as it should.

I wonder why they would supply springs that are that much different? Who would want springs that you can't even pull in? Sorry, just doesn't make sense...and then you had to take it apart a bunch of times to figure it out. I hate stuff like that.

I was thinking that they were for hydraulic clutch but you think they would be marked as such...at least the OP got it sorted.

yeah it was weird. sucked taking it back off and on, im out of town and i dont have any of my regular tools here. my pneumatics would have been nice. so i called up EBC (thats where its from via motorcycle superstore) checked out the numbers on the bag and they swore it was the right one. they asked for some info with my old springs compared to theirs but i have no vernier caliper here. they said theyve had no complaints on that product with my model before. so ill have to get back to them on that. whats weird is with their springs it wasnt just stiff, tested it at first the case was only on with 5 bolts in was afraid it would break the case before compress. with all bolts in felt like cable would just snap. anyways, i like EBC and all but heads up on those springs for the 600F1.

hmm, I also ordered the EBC clutch kit a good year ago and I have no complaints. The springs seemed a little stiffer, but I was able to pull the cable with no problems. Maybe something slipped out of place the first time you put it all together?
