Default CCT question

I'm pretty sure my CCT is making the classic rattling noise when I rev my engine when it's cold. My bike has about 23,300 miles and looks to be the original CCT. Basically I don't want to attempt to fix it until winter because I just want to enjoy this bike before the snow flies then fix it then since I don't ride in the winter. How concerned should I be with this noise because I am used to all my vehicles making lots of wierd noises and never being major problems?? How serious is this rattle, or shouldn't i worry to much? How hard is it to replace?? When the time comes, my plan is to replace it with a OEM piece reason being if it made it this far then I'm sure it can make it another 20,000+ miles.

Worse come to worse, the Cam Chain can actually jump off the cams, and wreak complete havoc to you motor. But I rode my F1 for about a year with the CCT rattling horribly with no issues; but I may have just been lucky. If you can the APE Manaul CCT is only about 50ish bucks, and it only took me about 1 hour to install.

When it comes down to it, do you feel lucky?

Question on the Manual CCT. I had a new OEM one installed a couple months ago, and its coming back already. How many people have the manual on their Hurricane/F1? Have you had any issues since you installed. My rattle is only at startup now, and goes away once i take off. But i would like mine to be gone also. No more dealing with it. I know the manual needs adjusted, but that wouldnt be a problem.. Hope i am not stealing your thread Camo.. Not intended. Just adding to the questions rather than bring my ancient post back... Hopefully any info will help you also. To answer your question, i would think as long as you dont rev it during startup (cold) and the sound isnt there during normal operation, it should be fine. Mine was rattling in all gears around 4,ooo RPMs. So i had it replaces. Now it only rattles at startup. So you should be fine. Just take it easy on it...

whoever did the work for you may not have donethe work correctly or misdiagnosed your problem. you already paid to have the problem fixed. if it were me i'd take the bike back and have the work done right.

The local Honda shop did it. It was fine at first. I did go back and ask. They told me the F1's eat stock CCT's, and i should get a manual one to install to fix the issue. ?

My CCT has been installed and I have not touched it since. I have no rattling or any whining of any sort (a "whine" is an indication of a CCT that is too tight). I have not been babying this motor either. I hear the OEM are always bound to come back with the rattles. My friend has replaced his CCT on his F4i numerous times now, and the rattle always just comes back. Now he has installed a CCT, and all is well last I heard.
