Hi Connor , when you said you jumped the starter solenoid , I take it you bridged the posts with a screwdriver or something like that, did the engine turn
(with key in and on)

it was a while ago now but when I did it I followed the manual to check it was working which basically said connect the battery then bridge the connections, but nothing else was connected to the solonoid

Hi, yes what I'm getting at is that the solenoid might be b*******d, if you have it all connected and ready to go try bridging the starter solenoid, and if the engine turns then the solenoid is naff

When i bridge the solenoid with everything connected it does turn the engine, but is it normal that doing such a thing could blow my main fuse?

Hi , that means the solenoid is no good and why you cant start it off the button you'll need a new one, their cheap enough of e-bay
Honda CBR600F (1) starter relay, solenoid (1987-1990 H/J/K/L models) | eBay
Also clean up the starter button on the handle bars

Thanks man, ill get that ordered within the week and report back when I've tried it, there will probably be a lot of this.

Should rename the thread, Connors troubleshooting manual.

And did it blow the 30amp fuse when you did it

When installing check solenoid that's coming out for telltale signs , also check wires and connectors coming and going from solenoid for shorts
